Be sure to have clean, dry hair. Lightly prepping your hair with your usual products is best. Completely naked hair tends not to hold curl well or can get frizzy.  If you're experiencing frizz, let us handle it

If you have textured/curly hair and are expecting a smooth style, be sure to have your hair already smoothed. Stretching the curl can take longer than allotted, not leaving any time for the actual style. If you'd like your natural curl styled, style your hair as usual and make sure it is 100% dry. We can refresh and enhance your curls as needed.

Blow-dry appointments should have wet, freshly washed hair Do not flat iron or curl the day of your appointment.

Be sure to have a clean, moisturized face. No mascara from the day before, no tinted moisturizers. Your artist will prep your skin as needed, but it's still a good idea to follow your usual skincare routine. If there are any makeup related products you'd like to use, be sure to wait to speak to the artist before applying them. Feel free to bring along your favorite lipstick.

Do not experiment with any peels or waxing the week of services.

Prepare the space

Be sure to set up prior to artist arrival. Your artist will typically arrive about 15 minutes before the first service. They will need a table or other hard surface to work off of with outlets nearby.

Secure all pets and children. Due to sanitation, hot tools, and expensive equipment, it is best not to have any furry friends or little ones present during services. We're happy to say hello before or after though!

Look for ample natural lighting and space to move around. Bathrooms should not be considered. Dining tables often work best. Windows and doors should be closed and the space should be airconditioned to a comfortable temperature.

  • Be sure to get plenty of rest and hydrate to avoid dark circles and dry skin.
  • If you have a large party, it's best everyone be present all at once at the start of services. This will ensure timeliness and avoiding additional fees.
  • If you're preparing alone or this is your trial appointment, it's best to limit the number of people present to just one or none as to not distract from communication with your artist.
  • Don't forget to eat and brush your teeth before!
  • Have inspo photos ready before your artist arrives.
  • Wear a loose top, button up, or robe. This way you can easily change after services without messing up the hair or makeup.
  • Steam garments before having hair and makeup done. The steam will shorten the longevity of your look.

Lighting and location are so important. Pick an area with plenty of space for people to walk around and as much natural lighting as possible. Bathrooms should not be considered. Dining tables often work best.

"Zulmarie has mad hair and makeup skills. I’ve never really liked my hair in an up do, but when one of your best childhood friend’s son gets married, you want to feel special. I was blown away by my transformation. I basically put myself in her hands and she worked magic. I’ve never looked better! Can’t wait to use her again. Plus, she has a soothing personality. Love her!"
