Great hair and makeup are truly a product of their canvas. If you want frizz free hair and a beautiful bridal glow, now is the time to amp up those beauty routines! Use this guide to help you prepare well in advance and get the most out of your hair and makeup services. I promise you won’t regret it and your artist will LOVE you for it!
Treat Your Mane
If you’ve thought about growing your hair out, go for it! Remember, to get a trim every couple of months to keep you hair healthy. Not trimming can lead to split ends which can really impact the look and longevity of your style if you plan to wear your hair down or half up. Layers can help to create soft face framing, body, and remove weight for longer lasting curls.
If you don’t have enough time to grow your hair out, extensions can give you the length and even fullness you might be looking for. Pro Tip: Extensions hold curl way longer than natural hair! So if you’re on the fence, consider this your push. Don’t forget to use our discount codes linked HERE! If you’re going to experiment with anything new try to do it at least 2 months prior to the wedding so there is time to make changes if necessary.
Pre-book all of your appointments with your stylist to ensure they’re going to be available when you need them to be! Get you color done about a week before the wedding. If you plan to experiment with something new, do it two months before. That will give you time to live with it and decide if you need to just touch it up for the wedding or make a change.
Ask us or your regular stylist about products and treatments. You should be using masques and heat protection regularly, but especially now! We want shine! We want healthy ends! We want vivid color! We want you to look GOOD!
Get Serious About Skin Care
Now is the time to get serious about your skincare routine! Makeup is only as good as the canvas it’s on. Cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize daily! If you’re not sure what products are right for you consult with your dermatologist or aesthetician. If you don’t have an aesthetician, let us know! We have plenty of friends that can help! We have some favorite products too if you need recommendations.
Be sure to give yourself plenty of down time before the wedding if you plan to do any peels or injectables. If you plan to wax, be sure to do so at least a week before the wedding. Dermaplaning is also a great option, but be sure to do your whole face. Waxing and dermaplaning will change the texture of the skin and will be noticeable through the makeup. Giving your skin downtime after waxing will help your skin rebuild it’s barrier and even skin texture back out.
Tanning & Eyelash Extensions
Please let us know at your trial if you plan to tan. If you get a spray tan, you can have your face done, but lightly. It’s okay if your face is lighter than your body. That’s naturally how we look because of sunblock, and we can always make adjustment to bronze you up with the makeup.
If you’re going in the sun… ahem… bachelorette trips, I’m looking at you, use sunblock! Better than to be fair than burnt. Makeup will not adhere properly to sunburned skin. If you do get sunburn, be sure to over moisturize or use hydrating and calming masques daily and continue to stay out of the sun.
We do not recommend eyelash extensions for your wedding day. The lashes get full of makeup while we’re working and it is nearly impossible to get them totally clean without ruining our work. They tend to not look dark enough or polished.
We prefer to use full or half strips with a makeup application. Strip lashes will last all night, look nice and full at the lash line and are a lot kinder to your budget. You can also opt out of lashes all together if you prefer, but maybe save the extensions for your honeymoon! They’re great for tropical vacations!
We hope this has been helpful to you! Feel free to share this with your party so they can look and feel their best on the big day too! If you ever have any questions, please send us an email at Zulmarie@CurlWinkBlush.com and we’d be happy to chat with you! Happy planning!
